What is Library 2.0?

After the dotcom bust in the early 2000s a new range of web services came about that was eventually labelled Web 2.0, also known as Social Media.

Library 2.0 was first used by Michael Casey on his blog Library Crunch in 2005 in an article about the need for libraries to take on elements of Web 2.0 to deliver better services and participation for users.

It is the idea that libraries need to be able to constantly evolve and improve the way that the users interact with the collections and services, to be able to attract and deliver those services to a wider range of users. They should do this through collaboration, interaction and feedback, through social and multimedia technology.
